Given the integrity of the relationship with W.S. Darley & Co., it makes no sense not to take a serious look at having them build our first tender. We'd like to go with a Polybilt tank with cabinets. We're evaluating specs and adding a few of our own. It is expected to have 40,000 pound rears for a 3,000 gallon tank. We don't want to be too aggressive and choose too large a tank. Why such a small tank for such a heavy duty rear? We want to maintain a conservative, off-road loading, and DOT limits us to 34,000 on the rears. The truck will be outfitted with three quick dumps, two rear sprayers, remote controlled monitor with a 90 GPM tip, 3,000 gallon drop tank, two cross lays, and a mid-ship, PTO-driven pump. We've spent months investigating water tender trucks, searching for ideas. |

These four photos will change in sequence, showing the driver's side and passenger's side of the pump module. This is a Darley PTO-driven HM-500 pump module that we are considering. It even has a dishwasher in there.... just kidding. Up top, there are two 1 3/4" cross lays and one 2 1/2" deadlay. Each has enough room for 250 feet of double-jacked hose. Suction and discharge are also plumbed to the passenger side. We're planning to add foam injection and of course a foam cell within the water tank. All in all, we think it'll make for a very nice truck that some department will really like. What's more, they'll get this truck at a very attractive price. |
