The New Quint |
August 2005. We've been invited to take a close hand look at their new quint. It's a Sutphen truck and its a beauty, with a 70 foot boom. Maintainence Superintendant Larry Pinnow gave us a hands-on tour and then took another BFD member and the Sutphen training rep up on the ladder while we took all sorts of photos. Okay - what's a "quint"? There are pumper, tanker, ladder and tiller ladder fire trucks. A quint is a bit of a combination of several trucks. Technically, a quint means five. As such, a quint consists of a pump, a water tank, hose, an aerial ladder and ground ladders. This makes the truck very versatile. |

Larry Pinnow has been putting the finishing touches on the truck ever since picking it up at the IAFC (International Association of Fire Chiefs) expo in Denver. Recently, the department has been receiving training. Don't you wish that your department had apparatus like this? |
