One Of The Oshkosh Units |

On September 30th, 2005, we continued our ARFF tour with James Brown of the Billings Fire Department showing us the snow removal equipment. Unfortunately, we had an appoitment to dash off to. So, here's our one and only photo. It was very hard to leave. Okay - what is this? It looks like an Oshkosh H-Series Chassis with the blower option. The auger is 52" high by 102" wide, with a 30" discharge chute. It's reported to cast 5,000 tons of snow per hour. Is that more than a ton per second? Everything about these rigs is... large. We are going to return for more photos. |
